Wideband THz Schottky Diode Based Source Development
This talk will discuss two recent examples of wideband THz LO sources that have been developed for airborne astronomy. The first part will describe work on 2x4 LO arrays at both 1.46 THz & 1.9 THz developed for the balloon flight GUSTO. The second example will be the development of a THz LO to cover 1.8-2.1 THz with more than 50 uW, work being done for the SOFIA GREAT instrument. One aspect that will be highlighted is the relatively recent development of medium power amplifiers in the 100-250 GHz range, and the role these are playing to enable wider band THz LO sources.
