The Pillars of Creation in [CII]
Abstract (for very short talk or poster): We present velocity-resolved [CII] fine structure line observations of M16 obtained using SOFIA/upGREAT for the FEEDBACK Legacy program and compare these to molecular line observations. M16 features the iconic Pillars of Creation, molecular gas structures drenched in far-UV light from the massive cluster NGC 6611. We discuss the dynamics of the pillars, separating out for the first time their cold, molecular components traced by CO from the UV-illuminated photodissociation regions traced by [CII].
